Sandra McDerment

After   graduating in Psychology from Stirling University and settling in the area , I spent much of my early career working with young people in a variety of settings within the voluntary sector. I qualified in Community Education (youth work) in 1989, then  in Person Centred Counselling  in 1994. In 1998/9 I undertook hypnotherapy training  with the London College of Clinical Hypnosis (LCCH)  and now hold both the Diploma in Clinical Hypnosis, with Distinction, and the Post Graduate Practitioner Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy. I later  qualified as a supervisor of counsellors in 2004. I am a senior registered practitioner with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), and a full member of the British Society of Clinical Hypnotherapy (BSCH), and as such I adhere to the BACP and the BSCH professional Codes of Conduct, thus ensuring the highest ethical standards of professional practice.

I have been working as a therapist since 1994 and have also held management roles in both the voluntary and public sector. I am now working freelance as a counsellor and hypnotherapist and as a trainer on the Post Graduate Certificate in Counselling Skills  at the internationally renowned Counselling Unit at Strathclyde University.
